One Day, One Minute, One Rule – 295

What are the expanded responsibilities of an Assistant Superintendent of Posts (ASPOs) acting as the Head of a Sub-Division regarding the Management Information System (MIS) and target setting, as introduced by the 2007 order?

As Head of the Sub-Division, the ASPO is required to maintain a comprehensive Management Information System (MIS) for all Branch Offices and Post Offices. This MIS must contain detailed information on every aspect of each office, including revenue earned, expenditure, business metrics, Savings Bank (SB) accounts, Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) business, and mail statistics.

The ASPO will set operational and business targets for individual Branch Post Offices and Sub-Post Offices. These targets are assessed based on the potential of each office with a specific focus on driving growth.

These redefined and expanded responsibilities are over and above the standard duties already prescribed for the cadre in the Postal Manual, Volume VIII.
