Delivery of passports – Karnataka Circle Instructions
• The Ministry has decided to relax the requirement for the physical presence of the applicant or a family member at the time of passport delivery.
• Postmen are now authorized to deliver the passport at the applicant's premises even if the applicant or their family members are not physically present.
• If the applicant is not present, the delivery can be made after verifying the identity of any person available at the premises.
• If the premises are locked or no one is available to receive the document, the passport can be delivered to the applicant at the Post Office counter.
• For counter deliveries, the applicant must produce a valid proof of identity.
• This measure is intended to reduce the number of passports returned to the Passport Offices (undelivered) and to minimize the hardships faced by applicants.
