According to letter No. Q-25/27/2024-PE-I-DOP dated June 18, 2025, the proposal to confer Gazetted status on the Higher Selection Grade-I (HSG-I) cadre was dropped. The Department of Posts examined the matter, including the administrative and financial powers of HSG-I posts, and sought comments from the Circles. The majority of the Circles did not favor the proposal, leading to the decision not to examine it further.
