66. Rules Digest - Metropolitan Cities as a Single Unit for LSG Cadre
• For promotion to LSG (Lower Selection Grade), Postal Assistants/Sorting Assistants in all units located within the four metropolitan cities (Bombay, Calcutta, Delhi, and Madras) and in cities with more than one division were to be considered as a single cadre as per the orders dated 13.1.1985.
• The matter has been re-examined.
• The LSG cadre will now be a divisional cadre in all cities where more than one division exists.
• This divisionalization does not apply to the four metropolitan cities of Bombay, Calcutta, Delhi, and Madras.
• In the four specified metropolitan cities, the LSG cadre remains a single, non-divisionalized cadre.
Metropolitan cities to be treated as a single unit
I am directed to refer to this office letter No. 6 -19/92-SPB.II dated 13-1-1985 on the above subject. In para 4 of the said letter it has been stated that for the purpose of promotion to LSG, Postal Assistants / Sorting Assistants in all Units located at the four metropolitan cities Bombay, Calcutta, Delhi and Madras and those where more than one division exist will constitute one single cadre. The matter has been re-examined in this office and it has now been decided that the LSG will be a divisional cadre even in cities having more than one division except in four metropolitan cities of Bombay, Calcutta, Delhi and Madras. In other words LSG cadre has not been divisionalised in four metropolitan cities.
