One Day, One Minute, One Rule – 291
What are the eligibility criteria and key service conditions for promotion from Inspector Posts to the post of Assistant Superintendent of Posts (ASP) as per the 2013 Recruitment Rules?
Promotion is made from the grade of Inspector Posts (Pay Band-2, Rs. 9300-34800 with Grade Pay of Rs. 4200). The standard eligibility requirement is five years of regular service in the grade along with the successful completion of two weeks of Departmental Induction Training.
For officials who already held the feeder post of Inspector Posts on a regular basis as of the notification date of these rules, the eligibility service for promotion continues to be three years instead of five.
If a junior official who has completed the qualifying service is being considered for promotion, their senior will also be considered, provided the senior is not short of the required qualifying service by more than half of the prescribed period or two years (whichever is less), and has successfully completed their probation period.
