 Rules, Rights & Rites -136

I usually post all important items related to official rulings, union news, and other general matters on my YouTube channels: Yourskayveeyes (English) and Anbudan Kayveeyes (Tamil).
However, due to the recent spate of orders and the high volume of information being received, I have not been able to convert every item into a video. Therefore, I am introducing these new slots to post current matters and updates that have not yet been published on YouTube. This ensures you stay informed on every detail, even if a video hasn't been made yet …………….Kayveeyes

Salary Account Package launched for Central Government employees:

The Department of Financial Services (DFS) launched the Salary Account Package on January 14, 2026, to provide enhanced financial security and better banking convenience for all Central Government employees.
The package was developed by all 12 Public Sector Banks (PSBs).
Employees can select any one of the 12 PSBs for their salary account based on personal preference.
Banks have been advised to organize on-site facilitation camps at Ministry/Department premises for account opening and assistance.
Offers a zero-balance salary account with enhanced facilities. Includes free remittances (RTGS, NEFT, UPI, IMPS) and free cheque book facilities.
Provides concessional interest rates and 100% processing fee waivers for housing, vehicle, education, and personal loans.
Includes waivers on locker rentals and concessions on Demat AMC (Annual Maintenance Charges) depending on the bank.
Enhanced benefits on Debit and Credit cards, including airport lounge access and various reward programs.
Death cover ranging up to 1.50 crore. Some banks specifically include additional coverage for a girl child's education or marriage (e.g., up to 10 lakh).
Insurance coverage for air accident up to 2.00 crore.
Permanent Total and Partial Disability cover up to 1.50 crore.
Benefits up to 20 lakh, with an option for additional top-up facilities in term life insurance.
Comprehensive cover for the employee and family, including a base plan for medical insurance and top-up options.
Many banks offer annual health check-ups and wellness programs as part of the package.
Which one is better for you?
Bank of India (BOI) stands out with a higher Personal Accident cover (₹2 Cr) and specific benefits for a girl child's marriage and education.
State Bank of India (SBI) is excellent due to its "Rishtey" accounts which extend zero-balance and insurance benefits to family members, plus premium credit card tiers (Elite/Aurum) with high lounge access.
Punjab & Sind Bank is unique in offering dedicated coverage for anti-terrorist or Naxal operations, which may be relevant for employees in specific regions.
While the Banking benefits (zero balance, free RTGS/NEFT) are nearly identical across all 12 banks, Bank of India currently offers the highest listed insurance figures (₹2 Cr) and the most generous locker waiver (100%).
