What are the rules regarding the number of additional chances allowed to Army Postal Service (APS) candidates for appearing in the Inspectors of Posts Departmental Examination if they have not exhausted their maximum chances in civil, and until when were these instructions applicable?

If an APS candidate has already exhausted all 4 permitted chances in civil before joining the APS, they will not be eligible for any additional chance in the APS.

If a candidate has not availed of the maximum number of chances before joining the APS, they are allowed two additional chances while serving in the APS, as per the following breakdown:

o 3 chances availed in Civil: Allowed 1 + 2 additional (Total 6)

o 2 chances availed in Civil: Allowed 2 + 2 additional (Total 6)

o 1 chance availed in Civil: Allowed 3 + 2 additional (Total 6)

o 0 chances availed in Civil: Allowed 4 + 2 additional (Total 6)

These specific instructions were applicable up to 31.01.2013. With effect from 01.02.2013—the date on which the revised Recruitment Rules of Inspector Posts were notified in the Gazette of India—the provisions contained in the new rules became applicable.
