33. What clarification did the Department of Posts issue regarding the filling of Lower Selection Grade (LSG) posts in the Accounts Line?
The Department of Posts, in its letter No. 06-12/2010-SPB.II dated March 7, 2011, issued a clarification regarding the filling of Lower Selection Grade (LSG) posts in the Accounts Line for Post Offices and Railway Mail Service offices. The letter addresses inquiries about the eligibility of officials for these posts.
The key points of the clarification are:
• The eligibility for filling LSG (A/cs) posts is based on the
Recruitment Rules of 1976. These rules stipulate that the posts are to be filled by Postal Assistants (PAs) and Sorting Assistants (SAs) with 10 years of regular service who have passed the POs and RMS Accountants Examination.
• The LSG (A/cs) cadre is considered a
divisionalized cadre for the limited purpose of transfers and remains a Circle cadre.
• When considering promotions to LSG (A/cs), the eligibility list of PAs/SAs who have passed the Accountant's examination should be prepared based on their
seniority in the PA/SA grade. This is subject to the fulfillment of educational qualifications and other prescribed criteria in the Recruitment Rules.
• The eligibility for LSG (A/cs) posts is to be filled by PAs or SAs who have passed the PO & RMS Accountant examination. The eligibility list should be prepared based on their seniority in the PA/SA grade on the crucial date, regardless of the year when the required qualification was obtained.
