Can union representatives utilize Departmental Inspection Quarters or Inspection Rooms during tours?
Yes, the Department of Posts has provided guidance on accommodating union office bearers in these facilities:
• The eligibility for such accommodation is primarily governed by Rule 610(B) of P&T Manual Volume II, read with Para 2 of Appendix II of the Manual.
• Controlling officers of Inspection Quarters and Inspection Rooms are authorized to exercise their discretion to allow Circle and National level office bearers to stay in these facilities in exceptional cases, even if they are not specifically covered under the standard rules.
• This instruction was issued following representations from the staff Federation regarding accommodation for touring union office bearers.
