One Day, One Minute, One Rule – 240
What mechanism has been recommended to monitor the encroachment status of vacant departmental plots, and how is it to be implemented?
To protect the Department’s approximately 1,800 vacant plots—some of which are of high commercial value and under illegal occupation—the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology recommended the application of satellite imagery to obtain up-to-date encroachment status. Since the Department of Science & Technology indicated that mapping small individual holdings falls under provincial jurisdiction, Heads of Circles have been requested to coordinate with their respective State Government Survey or Revenue Departments to explore the possibility of installing and utilizing satellite imagery applications. This initiative aims to provide a modern mechanism for protecting departmental assets and facilitating the removal of encroachments as recommended by the Standing Committee.
