How are "Pay," "Family," and "Same Station" defined under Order No. 2/4/2022-E.IIB dated 30.12.2022?
According to Order No. 2/4/2022-E.IIB dated 30.12.2022, "Pay" for HRA calculation refers to the pay drawn in the prescribed Level in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC recommendations, excluding other types of pay like special pay. "Family" includes the government servant's spouse, children, and other wholly dependent persons residing with them, provided their independent monthly income (including pension) does not exceed ₹9,000. "Same station" encompasses all places treated as contiguous to the qualified city/town or those included in the Urban Agglomeration (UA), which is defined by the latest Census Report as a continuous urban spread of a town and its adjoining outgrowths.
