- Set
up 200 Greenfield and 1800 Brownfield IDCs.
- Each
IDC to manage 50-80 delivery beats with dedicated staff.
- Merge
existing Nodal Delivery Centres with IDCs.
- Action
Required: Circles to identify land for IDCs and submit reports by 16th
January 2024.

The purpose of setting up
Independent Delivery Centres (IDCs) is to improve the delivery of all types of
articles by centralizing delivery functions, enhancing monitoring mechanisms,
and separating delivery operations from frontend booking counters. This
initiative aims to address challenges in performing delivery services during
weekends and holidays, as well as to streamline operations for better
efficiency. Additionally, it will merge existing delivery jurisdictions and
provide dedicated supervisory staff for improved oversight.

A total of 50 Greenfield
IDCs and 1,800 brownfield IDCs are proposed to be set up from 2025-26 to
2028-29 under the Postal Infrastructure Management Scheme.

implementation of the Postal Infrastructure Management Scheme is scheduled for
17.01.2024 at 10:00 AM.

Each Independent Delivery
Centre (IDC) will comprise of 50 to 80 delivery beats.
· Each Independent Delivery Centre (IDC) is proposed to be set up in an area of around 1,500 Sq. Ft. to 3,000 Sq. Ft., depending on the number of delivery beats operationalized from the IDC.
