One Day, One Minute, One Rule – 320
According to the Department of Posts (Multi Tasking Staff) Recruitment (Amendment) Rules, 2019, what are the newly substituted provisions regarding the minimum educational and language qualifications required for direct recruitment to the Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) cadre, and what specific exemption is granted to Casual Labourers and Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS)?
Minimum Educational Qualification for Direct Recruitment: A candidate must have systematically passed the 10th standard (Matriculation) from a recognized Board.
Local Language Requirement: The candidate must possess distinct knowledge of the local language of the concerned Postal Circle or Division. To fulfill this provision, the candidate must have officially studied the local language at least up to the 10th standard. (Note: The authoritative schedule of local languages for each respective Postal Circle or Division is published directly by the Department of Posts).
Exemptions for Departmental Candidates (Casual Labourers & GDS): For the direct recruitment or absorption quota limited to Casual Labourers and Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS), no minimum educational qualification is prescribed under the rules. This completely exempts them from the 10th standard pass requirement when competing for induction into the regular MTS cadre.
