Rationalization of Accounts Line Posts & Merger with general line posts

Rationalization of Accounts Line Posts & Merger with general line posts
• Accounts Line posts will NO LONGER be a separate cadre. They will be an integral part of the General Line (PO/RMS).
• No new promotions/appointments to specific LSG/HSG (Accountant) posts.
• Existing LSG/HSG (Accountant) officials will continue in their posts temporarily.
• Future promotions for these officials will be to the General Line cadres (e.g., LSG Accountant to HSG-II General Line).
• Posts identified for Accounts work will be filled by PA/SA officials who have qualified the PO & RMS Accountant Examination.
• This applies to PA/SA, LSG, HSG-II, and HSG-I levels (once promoted to General Line).
• Common Seniority Lists: To be prepared for LSG (General Line) and HSG-II (General Line) to include existing LSG/HSG-II Accountants.
• Placement on the common seniority list will respect original PA/SA seniority.
• Complete DPC process for Vacancy Year 2024 for both General Line & Accounts Line posts as per the recruitment rules for the same.
• Consolidation of Account Line posts with General Line will be initiated from Vacancy Year 2026. This was directed vide DG letter No, X-08/4/2021=SPN II DOP dated 5.5.2025.
• Postmasters General to complete the DPC process for the vacancy year 2024 for both general line and accounts line posts before consolidation of accounts line posts with general line posts.
• It also states that the process for consolidation of Account line posts with general line in terms of the Directorate letter dated 11.02.2025 may be initiated with effect from vacancy year 2026.
• This order effectively modifies the previous instruction by delaying the full consolidation until vacancy year 2026, while still prioritizing the DPC for 2024.
