What are the specific responsibilities of Divisional and Sub-Divisional Heads immediately following the death of a Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) regarding compassionate engagement?
According to the instructions reiterated by the Chennai City Region based on Directorate guidelines, the following actions must be taken:
The family of the deceased GDS must be formally informed about the scheme of Compassionate Engagement within 15 days from the date of death.
Along with details of the scheme, the family must be provided with a list of regular GDS vacancies available in the division as of the date of the employee's death.
An acknowledgement of this information must be obtained from the family and kept on official record.
When forwarding cases to the Regional Office (RO), all supporting documents must be enclosed with the attestation of the verifying officer to prevent processing delays.
These strict timelines are intended to prevent belated claims and avoid the administrative difficulties caused when families do not receive timely information through Divisional or Sub-Divisional Heads.
