Who is eligible for Risk Allowance and how is this allowance treated in terms of an employee's official pay?
Risk Allowance is granted to Central Government employees who are engaged in hazardous duties or whose work has a deleterious effect on health over a period of time. Crucially, this allowance is not treated as "Pay" for any purpose. The guidelines for this allowance are cited under OM No. A-27012/01/2022-Estt. (AL) dated 17/2/2023, OM No. A-27012/01/2023-Pers.Policy(Allowance) dated 14/3/2024, and OM No. A-27012/02/2017-Estt. (AL) dated 17/7/2018.
