Special measures for the allottees of General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) to address the hardships caused by the second wave of COVID-19

What special measures were implemented for the allottees of General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) to address the hardships caused by the second wave of COVID-19?

According to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Directorate of Estates Office Memorandum No. 12035/2/2020-Pol.II dated 31st May, 2021, the government granted a one-time relaxation to the CGGPRA Rules, 2017. Key measures included the suspension of the bidding process for the month of June 2021 and the re-validation of authority slips for allottees who were unable to take physical possession within the standard 5-working-day limit. Furthermore, for those who successfully bid in April and May 2021 but could not move in, the allotment was deferred until after the "suo-moto" retention period (ending 30.06.2021) to prevent administrative issues. The memorandum also stipulated that licence fees would only be charged from the actual date of physical possession rather than the date of allotment, providing financial relief to affected employees.
