What is the specific change regarding the eligibility for Type I quarters for employees who are not otherwise entitled to them?
According to the Ministry of Communications & IT (Department of Posts) Order No. 2-130/71-NB dated 16.05.1973, the provision in Rule 13 of the Rules for Allocation and Allotment of quarters—which previously allowed for the allotment of Type I quarters under the "next below class" of entitlement to employees like promoted Class IV staff, linemen, postmen, and wiremen—has been cancelled. Consequently, it has been decided that Type I quarters should no longer be allotted under the "next below class" to anyone who is not fundamentally eligible for Type I accommodation.
