 Rules, Rights & Rites -181

I usually post all important items related to official rulings, union news, and other general matters on my YouTube channels: Yourskayveeyes (English) and Anbudan Kayveeyes (Tamil).

However, due to the recent spate of orders and the high volume of information being received, I have not been able to convert every item into a video. Therefore, I am introducing these new slots to post current matters and updates that have not yet been published on YouTube. This ensures you stay informed on every detail, even if a video hasn't been made yet …………….Kayveeyes

Welfare measures for postal field staff during the summer/heat-wave season:

• The circular (No. WLF/Misc/2024, dated 21.05.2026) is issued by the Office of the Chief Postmaster General, Andhra Pradesh Circle, Vijayawada, and is addressed to the Postmasters General of the Kurnool, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam Regions.

• Due to severe summer temperatures routinely crossing 40°C in Andhra Pradesh and recurring IMD heat-wave advisories, outdoor delivery and field staff (Postmen, Mail Overseers, Cash Overseers, GDS, etc.) face a high, immediate risk of heat exhaustion and dehydration.

• Regions are advised to provide buttermilk, ORS, lemon water, and glucose to outdoor field staff throughout the summer months until the South-West Monsoon begins.

• Sturdy, adequately sized, good-quality umbrellas are to be procured and distributed to outdoor staff to protect them from the sun and subsequent rains.

• Expenditures for these measures will be covered under the "Office Expenses" head or other relevant available funds. Divisional Heads must ensure that all Head Offices, Sub Offices, and Branch Offices arrange for cool drinking water, with a special focus on single-handed Sub Offices and Branch Offices in interior pockets.

• Wherever operationally feasible, Divisional Heads may reschedule long beat deliveries to cooler morning hours. They must ensure staff have adequate rest intervals and are not kept on outdoor duty during peak afternoon hours. Delivery offices must also maintain first-aid arrangements (ORS sachets and heat stroke medication) in coordination with local Primary Health Centres (PHCs).

• Divisional Heads must submit a brief compliance report by the 10th of each subsequent month detailing actions taken, the number of offices covered, umbrellas distributed, and expenditure incurred.
