What instructions were issued by the Directorate regarding promotions to the Higher Selection Grade-I (Non-Functional Grade) [HSG-I (NFG)] in light of the proposed merger of the Postmaster cadre with the general line?
The Directorate noted that a committee report dated 08.03.2019 recommended merging the Postmaster Grade-III cadre with the HSG-I cadre since the Postmaster cadre was originally carved out from the general line.
Because merging the cadres could result in an HSG-I (NFG) official being junior to a Postmaster Grade-III official who becomes HSG-I post-merger, Circles were instructed to maintain status quo on promotions to HSG-I (NFG) until further orders from the Directorate.
