According to the draft Recruitment Rules circulated for the revision of the Lower Division Clerk (LDC) cadre in Postal Accounts Offices, the core criteria established for recruitment are as follows:
• Age Limit: Between 18 and 27 years. This age limit is relaxable up to 40 years for departmental candidates in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Government. The crucial date for determining the age limit is fixed as advertised by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
• Educational & Other Qualifications: 1. 12th Class pass or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board or University. 2. A typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) in English or 30 words per minute (w.p.m.) in Hindi on a computer.
• Method of Recruitment: 100% by direct recruitment through the Staff Selection Commission (via examinations such as the Combined Higher Secondary Level or CHSL Examination).
• Probation Period: 2 years for direct recruits.
