• The proposal was received regarding mandatory opening of accounts for Post Offices with nearby banks to reduce cash handling risks.
• The proposal for opening bank accounts in Post Offices for cash transactions has been initiated by the Head of the Division and forwarded to the Head of the PAO.
• These proposals are based on the turnover criteria prescribed in letter No. 23-1/2012-PO dated 28.02.2012, which stipulates a minimum annual turnover of ₹44 lakh.
• The procedure for opening such accounts for conducting Government business has been detailed in office letter No. PA/BK-1/11-33/2005(Z)/220-288 dated 25.04.2008.
• Circles are requested to take appropriate action in accordance with:
