The proposal was received regarding mandatory opening of accounts for Post Offices with nearby banks to reduce cash handling risks.
The proposal for opening bank accounts in Post Offices for cash transactions has been initiated by the Head of the Division and forwarded to the Head of the PAO.
These proposals are based on the turnover criteria prescribed in letter No. 23-1/2012-PO dated 28.02.2012, which stipulates a minimum annual turnover of ₹44 lakh.
The procedure for opening such accounts for conducting Government business has been detailed in office letter No. PA/BK-1/11-33/2005(Z)/220-288 dated 25.04.2008.
