One Day, One Minute, One Rule – 239
What preventive measures has the Department of Posts mandated to protect vacant departmental plots from illegal encroachment?
To protect its approximately 2,000 vacant plots across the country, the Department has decided that several preventive monitoring and reporting measures must be implemented:
• Regular monitoring of vacant plots must occur at the Circle level, with the Chief PMG/PMG nominating a specific officer to oversee the state of these plots.
• Officers must be nominated at the Divisional level, and the Postmaster of the area where a plot is located is given direct responsibility for its protection.
• Nominated officers are required to visit vacant plots periodically and promptly report any signs of encroachment or illegal construction to both Law Enforcing Authorities and higher departmental authorities.
• Circle offices must report illegal constructions to the Directorate, and the Chief PMG/PMG is tasked with setting up a committee to take speedy action for the removal of any existing encroachments.
• The Department has warned that any future encroachment occurring due to management laxity will be viewed seriously.
