From Kayveeyes Desk - Self-Assessment: Do These Habits Weaken My Contribution?

Reflect on your actions and attitudes with these questions. Be honest with yourself about whether any of these habits might be hindering our organization's strength and effectiveness:

1. Do I let things slide for the sake of peace or friendship when someone has clearly made a mistake, especially if they're an old acquaintance, friend, colleague, or loved one? Do I touch on sensitive issues lightly instead of addressing them thoroughly, just to keep things comfortable?

2. Do I criticize others privately or gossip behind their backs instead of actively sharing my suggestions with the organization or speaking up in meetings? Do I prioritize my personal opinions over the principles of collective action?

3. Do I let issues drift if they don't directly affect me, staying silent even when I know something is wrong? Am I overly cautious, preferring to play it safe and avoid blame rather than addressing problems?

4. Do I disregard orders or prioritize my own opinions over organizational directives? Do I demand special treatment from the organization while resisting its discipline?

5. Do I engage in personal attacks, pick quarrels, or seek revenge instead of constructively debating incorrect views for the sake of unity, progress, or getting the work done right?

6. Do I hear incorrect views without challenging them, or even hear remarks against collective action without reporting them, acting as if nothing happened?

7. When among members, do I fail to engage in propaganda, agitation, or speak at meetings? Do I neglect to conduct investigations and inquiries, showing indifference to their well-being and forgetting my role as a worker?

8. Do I see someone harming the interests of the members and not feel indignant, or fail to dissuade, stop, or reason with them, thereby allowing the harmful behavior to continue?

9. Am I aware of my own mistakes but make no real effort to correct them, instead adopting a lax or "liberal" attitude toward myself?

10. Do I wholeheartedly commit to the principles of solidarity, justice, and collective action in every decision and interaction, always prioritizing the welfare and unity of my fellow workers above personal gain or convenience?
