123. According to Office Memorandum No. 19014/3/77-E.IV(B) dated 17th February, 1978, are SC/ST candidates entitled to Travelling Allowance (TA) when called for an interview or written test for a post that is not specifically reserved for their category?
Yes, as per Office Memorandum No. 19014/3/77-E.IV(B) dated 17th February, 1978, it is clarified that SC/ST candidates are entitled to Travelling Allowance regardless of whether the interview or test is for appointment against a post reserved for them or not. This order extends the existing concessions to SC/ST candidates who are not already in government or public sector service and are called for recruitment to Groups A & B posts made otherwise than through the Union Public Service Commission. For recruitment conducted through the UPSC, candidates continue to receive TA under separate existing orders
