217. Whether the female Govt. servant on maternity leave undergoes family planning operation is entitled to avail the special casual leave in addition to the days entitled for maternity leave?

In such cases, the female Govt. servant is not eligible for the grant of Spl. CL for undergoing the operation while on maternity leave.

218. Whether the production of Medical Certificate is necessary for availing Maternity Leave?

No. It is not necessary.

219. Whether maternity leave can be granted to spinster or widow?

It was clarified that any expectant mother, be she married, unmarried or widow shall be entitled for maternity leave as the rules say ‘Female Government Servants” is the only condition. No other condition has laid down.

220. Whether the maternity leave is in existence for miscarriage and abortion?

Maternity leave may be granted for miscarriage/abortions for a period of not exceeding six weeks. Only one time during the entire service. May be combined with any kind of leave. Granted with full pay and leave. Will not be debited in the leave account. The leave period is counted for pension as well as the increment.

221. Whether the maternity leave will be debited in to any leave account?

Maternity Leave shall not be debited against the leave account. In case increment falls due during maternity leave, the increment will be granted only on return from such leave. The next increment will be granted on the normal date of increment. Leave salary will be equal to last pay drawn before proceeding on leave.
