What are the mandatory field-experience requirements for a Postal Assistant or Sorting Assistant who qualifies the departmental examination for Inspector Posts (IP) before they can be considered for promotion to Assistant Superintendent of Posts (ASP) and Postal Services Group 'B' grades?
To ensure adequate field-level exposure in both the Postal and RMS wings, the following compulsory working experience rules apply:
Postal Assistants qualifying as IP: Must complete at least 2 years of service in RMS field units (such as Mail Offices, Speed Post Hubs, Foreign Post Offices, Transit Mail Offices, and RMS Sub-Divisional Units) before being considered for promotion to ASP, and a minimum of 3 years of service in RMS units before promotion to PS Group 'B' grade.
• Sorting Assistants qualifying as IP: Must complete at least 2 years of service in Postal field units (Postal Sub-Divisional Units) before being considered for promotion to ASP, and a minimum of 3 years of service in Postal field units before promotion to PS Group 'B' grade.
This field service can be completed in one or multiple spells, though a single continuous spell is preferred.
