Guidelines for Official Tours Outside Jurisdiction

117. According to the instructions issued by the Department of Posts, what is the mandatory procedure for officers intending to go on tour outside their area of jurisdiction, and who is the designated authority for granting approval to a Head of Circle?

As per Order No. R-25/5/2025-SPG-DOP dated 29th April 2025, all officers are required to obtain prior approval from the Competent Authority before proceeding on a tour outside their jurisdiction, regardless of whether the tour is to attend a meeting or perform official work directed by a higher authority. In the event of an emergent situation where prior approval cannot be obtained, officers must send immediate information to the Competent Authority and submit a note for post-facto approval upon completion of the tour. Specifically, for a Head of Circle, the Director General Postal Services is the Competent Authority authorized to grant such approval.
