Revised Time-Limit for Submitting Travelling Allowance Claims on Retirement

124. According to Office Memorandum No. 19030/1/2017-E.IV dated 15th June, 2021, what is the revised time-limit for Central Government employees to submit Travelling Allowance (TA) claims specifically for journeys performed on retirement?

Under the provisions of Office Memorandum No. 19030/1/2017-E.IV dated 15th June, 2021, the Department of Expenditure has modified the time-limit for submitting TA claims on retirement from the previous 60 days to 180 days (six months) succeeding the date of completion of the journey. This change was made to address difficulties faced by retired officials in claiming reimbursement for journeys to their hometowns or places of settlement within the shorter window.

While the new 180-day limit applies to retirement-related journeys, the time-limit for submission of TA claims for tour, transfer, and training remains unchanged at 60 days. These orders are effective from the date of issuance; however, the memorandum also allows for the reconsideration of claims that were previously unsettled due to the older 60-day time-limit
