ASSISTANCE
TO THE MEMBERS OF PUBLIC
1) The
clerks can assist illiterate persons in filling up MO forms etc when this can
be done without interference to the work of the office. However, the clerk
should not charge any fee for this and render the service gratis.
2) The
clerks should not take frivolous obiections as to the manner in which to are
filled up by the members of public with an obiect to force them to go to the
professional letter writers.

ATTENDANCE
REGISTER
In
every office/Post Office having more than one clerk an attendance register
maintained to mark the attendance of clerk etc. for duty. Each official has to
sign in it on attending the office and put the time of attendance.

ADMITTANCE
OF STRANGERS INSIDE THE POST OFFICE
No
strangers is allowed inside a post office not is permitted to take part in the
office work or interfere with it or learn the same. This equally applied to the
near relative of the officials working in the office.

CUSTODY
OF STAMPS, SEALS AND TYPES OF KEYS
Before
the office is closed for the day all stamps and seals except those required for
use at night are locked in the office safe under joint custody.
Always
keep the round and along MO stamps insurance seal and date and other moveable
types in supervisor's custody.

CLEARING
OF SEALS AND STAMPS
All
the stamps and seals are required to be cleaned at least once a month or more
frequently. This should be noted in the error book.

PROHIBITION
REGARDING AFFIXING OF POSTAGE STAMPS ON ARTICLES
No
official should affix postage stamps on articles brought at the post office for
posting by public.

POWERS FOR SANCTION OF COMPENSATIONS
1)
Dvl. Supdt. in class 1/Postmasters (Gazetted) Class 1.
He
may sanction claims upto Rs. 2,000/- in each case provided the amount can be
recovered from the parties at fault, so that there is no loss to the
department.
May
sanction claims upto Rs. 1,000/- in each case where the corresponding recovery
is not possible from any source and the amount paid is to be finally written
off.
2)
Dvl. Supdt. Class II
He
may sanction such claims upto Rs. 1,000/- in each case where the corresponding
recovery is not possible from any source and the amount paid is to be finally
written off.
2)
Dvi. Supdt. Class II
He
may sanction such claims up to Rs. 1.000/- in each case provided that the
amount can be recovered from the parties at fault and there is no loss to the department,
In other cases it is Rs. 500/- only.
Postmaster class II cannot exercise any powers for settlement of claims.
RECALL OF POSTAL ARTICLES
No
postal article shall be recalled nor shall the address there on be altered
except under the orders of the Ist Class Postmaster or Supdt of POs as the case
may be.
