Clarification on OTA for Cash Overseers

138. Under what specific circumstances are Cash Overseers and other indoor staff performing similar duties eligible for Overtime Allowance (OTA) while traveling in departmental cash vans?

According to Order No. 10-54/75-PE-II(Pt.I) dated 01.07.1978, the President has approved the grant of Overtime Allowance to Cash Overseers who travel in departmental cash vans if they are detained beyond their normal fixed duty hours. This eligibility applies when delays occur due to reasons such as traffic jams or the breakdown of the departmental vehicle, alongside the driver and mail peon. To claim this allowance, the period of hold-up must be verified against the records maintained by the driver and is subject to formal scrutiny. These orders took effect from the date of issue and were finalized with the concurrence of P&T Finance.
