91. Does the instruction to treat the place of work on deputation as the place of duty and draw Transport Allowance apply only to officials on deputation/attachment within the South Karnataka Region?
The Department of Posts, Office of the Postmaster General, South Karnataka Region, vide its letter No. SK/AP/1 8-1/T A/ DLGS dated January 12, 2023, addresses the drawal of Transport Allowance (TA) for officials on deputation or attachment to different offices within the region.
It clarifies that officials on deputation/attachment are eligible for TA as per the directorate order and, to settle past cases, their place of work on deputation is to be treated as their place of duty. Consequently, they should draw the eligible TA subject to fulfilling all other prescribed rules.
Furthermore, it mandates that the drawing of Transport Allowance during deputation/attachment must be clearly mentioned in the deputation orders henceforth
