Forging Unity: Our Strength in the Battles Ahead
The winds of change are upon us, and as Central Government employees, we stand at a crucial juncture. The upcoming Eighth Pay Commission, various demands of workers and pensioners, the present move of the postal department with the clear thought to corporatize the postal service as a commercial service rather than the social service along with a multitude of long-pending unsettled and uncared demands of the Postal employees, necessitates a collective and unwavering approach. Now, more than ever, we must embrace the timeless principle: Unity for Struggle, Struggle for Unity. But the reality we are in dividing position ignoring the dangerous ahead.
Postal workers, the very foundation of our service is crumbling! Under the guise of "modernization," a sinister plot is unfolding: proposed corporatization, merger of parcel and post sorting hubs infrastructure dismantling, and the erosion of our long old postal services. They call it "independent delivery centres," but we see it for what it is – the centralising the delivery of parcel and post hubs, the silent burial of RMS offices, and the slow strangulation of our traditional postal network.
This isn't just about bricks and mortar; it's about our security in jobs, our communities, and the very soul of the postal service. They want to turn us into profit-driven cogs, sacrificing service for the sake of future corporatisation of the postal service based on the TSR Subramanian Committee. They want to dismantle the network we've built with our sweat and dedication over 175 years as the social service connecting the rural and urban India and the common citizen stranded in the days to come for their services.
Unfortunately we are divided; not understanding the danger and forecast the future of the postal service. Unity has been spoiled after the derecognition of the major postal union and they are in the divided camp on obvious consideration. Very sorry state of affairs. But we will not stand idly by! Now is the time to remember the battle cry that has echoed through our ranks: Unity for Struggle, Struggle for Unity! This isn't just a catchy slogan; it's the bedrock of our strength. History has repeatedly shown that fragmented voices are easily ignored, while a unified front commands attention and respect. Our legitimate demands, ranging from fair compensation to improved working conditions, can only be effectively addressed through a cohesive and powerful movement. We could see the divisions among the leaders without realising the dangers and the postal department is going ahead of its programme ignoring the trade unions having known that they are divided now.
The path to achieving our goals will undoubtedly be challenging. We must anticipate resistance and be prepared to engage in sustained and organized struggle. This requires a strong sense of solidarity, transcending individual differences and departmental boundaries. We must stand shoulder to shoulder, recognizing that our collective well-being is intertwined. This unity translates into powerful demonstrations, impactful representations, and a relentless pursuit of our rights.
Maintaining unity is not a passive endeavor. It requires active effort and constant vigilance. We must strive to bridge any divides that may arise, fostering a culture of mutual respect and understanding. Open communication, transparent decision-making, and a willingness to compromise are essential ingredients for building and sustaining a strong and resilient union. We must actively counter any attempts to divide us, recognizing that these are often tactics employed to weaken our collective voice.
Therefore, we must not only forge unity for the present but also preserve it for the days to come. This means building strong organizational structures, empowering grassroots leadership, and nurturing a culture of continuous learning and engagement.
Each cadre member has a vital role to play in this process. We must actively participate in union activities, voice our concerns, and contribute our ideas. We must be willing to engage in constructive dialogue, even when we disagree. Most importantly, we must remember that our strength lies in our numbers and our collective determination.
Let us rise to the occasion, embrace the principle of unity, and demonstrate our unwavering commitment to securing a just and equitable future for all Postal employees. By standing together, we can ensure that our voices are heard, our demands are met, and our rights are protected. Let us remember, in unity lies our strength, and in struggle lies our victory.
Our future hangs in the balance. We are the keepers of the postal flame, and we will not let it be extinguished. The time for action is now. Let us unite, let us persevere, and let us reclaim the postal service for the people!
