One Day, One Minute, One Rule – 268
Has the three-year time limit for considering cases of compassionate appointment been maintained or changed according to the 2012 guidelines?
The three-year time limit, which was originally prescribed in 2003, has been withdrawn. The Department of Personnel & Training decided to scrap this fixed limit following a re-examination of the issue and legal consultations. Instead, cases are now regulated by the instructions issued on October 9, 1998, which allow for the consideration of requests even if the death or medical retirement occurred several years prior (e.g., five years or more). However, the appointing authority must strictly evaluate the penurious condition (financial destitution) of the family, as the primary goal is to provide immediate assistance to those in genuine economic distress.
