One Day, One Minute, One Rule – 98 Guidelines for Air Ticket Booking on Government Account

98. Which travel agent was added as an authorized agent for booking air tickets on Government account, alongside the existing agents, according to the Office Memorandum with Order No. 19024/1/2012-E.IV, and what was the effective date of this order?

The Office Memorandum with the Order No. 19024/1/2012-E.IV, dated the 9th July, 2013, addresses the guidelines for Air Travel on Official Tours and Leave Travel Concession (LTC). The existing procedure allowed Government officials to book air tickets directly from Airlines or by utilizing the services of authorized agents, namely M/s Balmer Lawrie & Company Limited (BLCL) and M/s Ashok Travels & Tours (ATT).

The key decision conveyed in this memorandum is the inclusion of the Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) as an authorized agent for the purpose of booking air tickets on Government account. While IRCTC's services could previously be utilized to a limited extent for air travel on LTC, this decision formally authorizes it as a travel agent for all air ticket bookings on Government account, alongside BLCL and ATT.
