Delivery of Articles to Other Addresses

If the addressee formally requests the Post Office (from where the item is to be delivered) to redirect the article due to a change in residence, it may be redirected.
If current occupants inform delivery personnel of the addressee's relocation and provide a new address, the item may be delivered to the alternate address after verification.
When an item is addressed to an office or institution and the recipient has been transferred to another branch, the article may be redirected to the new address with proper organizational authorization.
If Contractual Customers provide a second delivery address in the same city at the time of booking, the article can be redirected to that address if applicable.
Mails for Defence Services Personnel
Particulars like No., Rank, Name, and Unit should be mentioned.
Such mails should be addressed to "Care of 56 A.P.O.", "99 A.P.O.", etc., without adding any post town.

Exemption in Method of Addressing
Items addressed to authorities with specified superscriptions on the envelope, tendered at a post office, are accepted without the sender's name and complete address.
Any item addressed to the CVC (Central Vigilance Commission) or CVOs (Chief Vigilance Officers) with "Complaint under the Public Interest Disclosure" or "PIDPI Complaint" on the envelope may be accepted without the sender's name and complete address.
Standards for Addressing on International Items
An item should not have more than one delivery address, though administrative instructions may specify exceptions.
The address, whether handwritten or machine printed, must be precise, complete, and legible to ensure easy transmission and delivery to the destination country/territory.
The sender's and addressee's addresses must be written in roman letters and Arabic numerals; the addressee's address may also be written in the language of the destination country/territory if required.
The name of the destination place and country/territory must be written in capital letters with the correct postcode or delivery zone number.
The sender's and addressee's addresses should contain applicable elements in the following order, unless otherwise specified: Name, Mobile Number (optional), Building (door, floor, stairwell, wing, building, distinct instances), Street (street name/number/type, primary thoroughfare, secondary thoroughfare), PO Box, Post Office, City/town/Rural Area, Administrative Areas (region level), Postcode, Country/Territory.
The addressee's address is written on the right of the front side, and the sender's address is on the lower left of the front side of an envelope.
Both addresses should start with "To" and "From" respectively.
A minimum blank space of 15mm must be kept from the left, bottom, and right sides of the envelope, and the addressee's address block should have a minimum gap of 40mm from the top.
Stamps or frank impressions are affixed in a maximum area of 74mm on the upper right corner.
A 10mm zone around the address block should be free from any printing or writing.
Non-address information (e.g., sender's code, serial/account numbers) should generally not be included in the addressee's address; if necessary, it should be printed above the first line, never below the last line.
The spacing between address lines must be uniform, more than 1mm, and less than 5mm.
The maximum number of characters per line is 40, excluding spaces.
Accountable items tendered at a post office will not be accepted unless addressed as per regulations 18, 19, or 21.
