10. Products and services 
India Post offers several products and services. These can be broadly classified under the  following heads 
∙ Mail services 
∙ Premium products 
∙ Financial services 
∙ Retail services 
∙ Philately

 
Mail services 
Mail service is the primary service offered by India Post. The activities involved in mail  services from the time it is posted by customer to the time it is delivered to the addressee are – Collection, sorting, transmission and delivery. Our efficiency lies in moving the mail as quickly as  possible from the time it is collected, to facilitate early delivery to the addressee. We offer domestic  and foreign mail services.  

We have 10 types of domestic mail: 
1. Letters 
2. Inland letter cards 
3. Post cards 
4. Book packets 
5. Sample and pattern packets 
6. Book packets containing printed books 
7. Book packets containing periodicals 
8. Registered newspapers 
9. Blind literature packets 
10. Parcels 

The first 9 types of articles are letter mail and the last one is parcel mail. The mail items are  further classified as first class and second class mail for the purpose of providing air lift. The first  three of the above list are first class mail and get airlifted, wherever available, free of charge. The  next seven items are termed second class mail and are moved by surface. For airlifting the second  class mail, air surcharge has to be paid. We will discuss the features of each of these mail items and  handling process later. 

For transmission of these mails, customers have to pay tariff. The tariff is normally paid in  the form of postage stamps affixed on the articles posted. However, the customers also have the  following options: 
∙ By obtaining frank impressions – Bulk customers can buy franking machines, secure  license and generate frank impressions on the articles in their premises. Certain Post  offices also have franking machines at the counter and customers can present the  articles to generate franks. The process is explained in detail later. 
∙ Postage in cash: Certain customers, on obtaining license from the department, are  permitted to pay cash in lieu of postage stamps 
∙ License to post Without Prepayment (WPP): Registered newspapers can be  posted without prepayment of postage on obtaining license from the department.

அஞ்சல் சேவைகள்:
இந்திய தபால் அலுவலகம் வழங்கும் முதன்மை சேவை அஞ்சல் சேவை ஆகும். வாடிக்கையாளர் அஞ்சலிட்ட நேரத்திலிருந்து பெறுநருக்கு வழங்கப்படும் நேரம் வரை அஞ்சல் சேவைகளில் ஈடுபடும் நடவடிக்கைகள் - சேகரிப்பு, வரிசைப்படுத்துதல், அனுப்புதல் மற்றும் விநியோகம். அஞ்சல் சேகரிக்கப்பட்ட நேரத்திலிருந்து கூடிய விரைவில் நகர்த்துவதில் எங்கள் திறன் உள்ளது, இது பெறுநருக்கு விரைவாக விநியோகிக்க உதவுகிறது. நாங்கள் உள்நாட்டு மற்றும் வெளிநாட்டு அஞ்சல் சேவைகளை வழங்குகிறோம்.

எங்களிடம் 10 வகையான உள்நாட்டு அஞ்சல்கள் உள்ளன:
1. கடிதங்கள்
2. உள்நாட்டு கடித அட்டைகள்
3. தபால் அட்டைகள்
4. புத்தக பாக்கெட்டுகள்
5. மாதிரி மற்றும் வடிவ பாக்கெட்டுகள்
6. அச்சிடப்பட்ட புத்தகங்களைக் கொண்ட புத்தக பாக்கெட்டுகள்
7. பத்திரிகைகளைக் கொண்ட புத்தக பாக்கெட்டுகள்
8. பதிவு செய்யப்பட்ட செய்தித்தாள்கள்
9. பார்வையற்றோர் இலக்கிய பாக்கெட்டுகள்
10. பார்சல்கள்

முதல் 9 வகையான கட்டுரைகள் கடித அஞ்சல் மற்றும் கடைசியாக ஒன்று பார்சல் அஞ்சல் ஆகும். விமான தூக்குதல் வழங்குவதற்காக அஞ்சல் பொருட்கள் மேலும் முதல் வகுப்பு மற்றும் இரண்டாம் வகுப்பு அஞ்சல் என வகைப்படுத்தப்படுகின்றன. மேலே உள்ள பட்டியலில் முதல் மூன்று முதல் வகுப்பு அஞ்சல் மற்றும் கிடைக்கக்கூடிய இடங்களில் இலவசமாக விமானத்தில் தூக்கப்படுகின்றன. அடுத்த ஏழு பொருட்கள் இரண்டாம் வகுப்பு அஞ்சல் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகின்றன மற்றும் மேற்பரப்பு மூலம் நகர்த்தப்படுகின்றன. இரண்டாம் வகுப்பு அஞ்சலை விமானத்தில் தூக்குவதற்கு, விமான கூடுதல் கட்டணம் செலுத்த வேண்டும். இந்த அஞ்சல் பொருட்கள் ஒவ்வொன்றின் அம்சங்கள் மற்றும் கையாளும் செயல்முறையை பின்னர் விவாதிப்போம்.

இந்த அஞ்சல்களை அனுப்புவதற்கு, வாடிக்கையாளர்கள் கட்டணம் செலுத்த வேண்டும். வழக்கமாக இடுகையிடப்பட்ட கட்டுரைகளில் ஒட்டப்பட்ட தபால் முத்திரைகள் வடிவில் கட்டணம் செலுத்தப்படுகிறது. இருப்பினும், வாடிக்கையாளர்களுக்கு பின்வரும் விருப்பங்களும் உள்ளன:

• ஃபிராங்க் பதிவுகளைப் பெறுவதன் மூலம் - மொத்த வாடிக்கையாளர்கள் ஃபிராங்கிங் இயந்திரங்களை வாங்கி, உரிமம் பெற்று, தங்கள் வளாகத்தில் உள்ள கட்டுரைகளில் ஃபிராங்க் பதிவுகளை உருவாக்கலாம். சில தபால் அலுவலகங்களில் கவுண்டரில் ஃபிராங்கிங் இயந்திரங்களும் உள்ளன, மேலும் வாடிக்கையாளர்கள் ஃபிராங்குகளை உருவாக்க கட்டுரைகளை வழங்கலாம். செயல்முறை பின்னர் விரிவாக விளக்கப்படும்.

• பணம் செலுத்துதல்: சில வாடிக்கையாளர்கள், துறையிலிருந்து உரிமம் பெற்றவுடன், தபால் முத்திரைகளுக்கு பதிலாக பணத்தை செலுத்த அனுமதிக்கப்படுகிறார்கள்.

• முன்கூட்டியே பணம் செலுத்தாமல் (WPP) இடுவதற்கான உரிமம்: பதிவு செய்யப்பட்ட செய்தித்தாள்கள் துறையிலிருந்து உரிமம் பெற்றவுடன் தபால் கட்டணம் செலுத்தாமல் இடுகையிடப்படலாம்.
