When a parcel is received at the delivery office in a damaged condition or if there are suspicions that the parcel's exterior has been tampered with, the following procedure will be followed:
The postmaster of the delivery office will send a notice to the addressee. This notice will request the addressee to visit the post office within seven days to take delivery of the parcel, either in person or through an authorized agent.
The addressee must present the notice at the post office before the delivery can be completed.
Inspection of Contents: Upon the addressee's arrival, the parcel will be opened at the post office in the presence of the postmaster and the addressee (or their authorized agent).
An inventory of the parcel's contents will be prepared in duplicate. Both the addressee and the postmaster will sign this inventory to confirm the contents.
Forwarding Inventory: One copy of the signed inventory will be forwarded to the sender of the parcel.
The addressee or their authorized representative must provide valid identification as required by the delivery post office for record-keeping purposes.
