The following gist is given below for keeping memory purpose of all the important rules covered under PO Guide Part I as per the syllabus. Please read again and again and keep memory of the following gist of rules in PO Guide Part I.

1. Organizational Setup

The Department of Posts falls under the Ministry of Communications.
The Minister of Communication is Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.
The Minister of State of Communication is Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani.
The Department of Posts is headed by the Secretary, Department of Posts.
The Director General Postal Services is responsible for handling the department's operations.

Postal Service Board (PSB)
The PSB is the apex management body of the Department.
Its functions include planning and policy formulation.
The Chairman of the PSB is the Secretary, Department of Posts.
The Secretary to the board is the Deputy DG (to assist the board).
There are 3 Permanent Invitees of the PSB:
o DG (Posts) 
o Additional DG (Coordination) 
o AS & Financial Advisor (from Government of India) – heads the Internal Finance Wing (IFW) 

There are 7 Members of the Postal Service Board:
o Member (Personnel Management) 
o Member (Operations) 
o Member (Technology) 
o Member (Financial Services) 
o Member (Infrastructure) 
o Member (Human Resource and Development) 
o Member (Service Quality and Marketing) 
Chief General Managers of BD, Parcel & PLI Directorate, Deputy DGs, Directors, and Assistant DGs at the HQ provide necessary support to the board.

For administration purposes, the entire country is divided into 23 Postal Circles.
