Grant of Flexi Working Hours – Case of Bigger Cities

Grant of Flexi Working Hours – Case of Bigger Cities

In most metro cities, traffic congestion is a common and frequent issue, often causing delays for officials commuting to work. As a result, some officials are forced to attend office later by 30 minutes or more due to unavoidable circumstances. With the introduction of biometric attendance, these officials are required to take leave for these delays, which disproportionately affects women employees who may face more frequent commuting challenges.

To address this issue, it is requested that flexi working hours be introduced in all major cities, similar to the scheme implemented in Mumbai. This would allow officials who arrive late due to traffic or other unavoidable reasons to make up for the lost time by staying in the office for an equivalent period. This would provide much-needed flexibility to the staff, particularly in metro cities and towns, and help mitigate the undue stress caused by strict punctuality policies.

Such an arrangement would improve work-life balance and efficiency without compromising the functioning of the office.
