97. Calculation of 7 days for returning unclaimed article ?
If the item cannot be delivered after the second attempt, it will be retained at the post office for a maximum of seven days following the date of receipt of the article at the post office or the first delivery attempt.
If an article received on delivery on January 25, 7 days reckoning is as follows.
First Delivery Attempt: January 25, 2025 (Day 1)
Counting of 7 Days:
Day 1: January 25
Day 2: January 27 (Jan 26 Republic day-Holiday)
Day 3: January 28
Day 4: January 29
Day 5: January 30
Day 6: January 31
Day 7: February 1
The last day of the retention period is February 1, 2025.
Return of Unclaimed Article
If the article is still unclaimed after February 1, 2025, it will be returned as unclaimed on February 2, 2025.
