86. Which specific central ministry refused to approve the continuation or enhancement of the Special Allowance for PO & RMS Accountants, and what was the effective date of its discontinuance?
The communication, under File No. F. No. 6-7/2017-PAP (Pt.) dated 27 April 2018, informs ALL Heads of Circles regarding the discontinuance of the Special Allowance to Accountants of Post Office (PO) & Railway Mail Service (RMS) in the Department of Posts. Following various references from Circles and Service Unions concerning the continuation or enhancement of this allowance, the matter was referred to the Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure.
The Ministry of Finance explicitly stated that the continuation or enhancement of the Special Allowance to PO & RMS Accountants was not agreed to, and the allowance was formally discontinued with effect from 01.07.2017.
